Eden Energy Equipment is excited to add Robert Bean, industry leading expert on building sciences, indoor environmental quality, energy, and radiant-based HVAC systems, to our fall training schedule. We are hosting this exclusive one day hydronics training opportunity in Guelph on October 2, 2015. This will not be your regular “off the shelf” hydronics training material and is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the industry's best hydronic trainers.

Who is Robert Bean? Robert Bean, R.E.T., P.L. (Eng.), is a registered engineering technologist in building construction and a professional licensee in mechanical engineering. He is president of Indoor Climate Consulting Inc. and director of www.healthyheating.com. Bean is a past ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer and recipient of ASHRAE’s Lou Flagg Award.

Currently, he serves on ASHRAE Standing Standard Project Committee 55 Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy; Technical Committee 6.1 Hydronic & Steam Heating Equipment and Systems; Technical Committee 6.5 Radiant Heating and Cooling Systems; and Technical Committee 7.4 Exergy Analysis for Sustainable Buildings. Bean also is a special expert on IAPMO’s new Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code committee. He has developed and teaches numerous courses related to the business and engineering of buildings, indoor climates and hybrid HVAC systems.

Class Schedule

8:30am to 9am : Breakfast & Networking

9:00am to 10:30 am : Introduction To Thermal Comfort:
Do you know the 10 contributing factors to thermal comfort? During the opening morning session, Robert Bean will introduce you to the key factors for indoor environmental quality including the the human factors in thermal comfort; and why building performance, interior finishes and HVAC systems types matter.

10:30 am to 10:45am: Coffee Break & Question Period

10:45 am to Noon: Indoor Air Quality:
In our second morning session, Robert Bean will deep dive into the human factors that contribute to indoor air quality along with why materials and methods of construction along with source control and filtration are important. The quality of the air in a living or work space is one of the most important factors contributing to the occupants quality of life. Robert will walk you through the key factors in depth, and how Hydronics can play a part in it.

Noon to 1:00 PM : Lunch & Question Period

1:00pm to 1:45pm : Energy / Exergy and Sustainability:
Do you know why hydronics is a key to energy and exergy efficiencies and sustainability? In our first period after lunch Robert Bean is going to enhance your knowledge on what energy efficiency means and how Hydronics is a key component to not only comfort, but energy savings and environmental sustainability.

1:45pm to 2:15pm : Designing Around Low Temperature:
Low temperature heat terminals, like the JAGA rads for example, allow designers and installers to design systems around water temperatures as low as 95F. In our second afternoon session, Robert will discuss the benefits of low temperature heat terminal units, and how they enable conservative temperatures and aggressive delta T's in your design.

2:15pm to 2:30pm : Coffee Break

2:30pm to 4:00pm : Flow / Controls & System Design:
In our final session of the day, Robert will go through the principles of flow, velocity, and pressure and how these are used to select control and balancing valves. This final session will enhance your skills at designing systems and selecting the best pump and control strategies.

4:00pm to 5:00pm : Question Period
