There were over 250 industry professionals present including engineers, designers, dealers and government officials. The entrance of the hall boasted our 30-foot booth to bring word to both Eden Energy Equipment and WaterFurnace, the industry-leading geothermal manufacturer. Grant Blackmore, president of Eden Energy Equipment had the pleasure of awarding the Quebec Prize of Excellence at this year’s conference to “Le 740 Bel-Air”, a multi-client building that houses offices and storage areas.

Buckingham Palace goes Geothermal

Buckingham Palace has been using a WaterFurnace Geothermal unit since 2002 to greatly reduce the cost of the Palace's energy bill. The cost of the installation for the Palace was approximately $100,000CAD.

A small trial project in 2002 involved drilling 400 feet in to the chalk aquifer beneath the palace grounds to run an eco-friendly air-conditioning system for a new art gallery to mark Her Golden Jubilee. The results were so impressive, that the Queen decided to completely replace the conventional heating sources of the entire Palace.

2008 Olympics Chose WaterFurnace

Planning for a geothermal installation in the swimming pools started in December 2002. A geothermal exploration project was conducted from this point until April 2004.

It was proposed that a WaterFurnace geothermal unit be used for space heating and domestic hot water supply for the sports village inside the “Olympic Green.” The pools were kept at a comfortable 28 degrees Celsius throughout the games.
