WaterFurnace Renewable Energy Inc. is a leading manufacturer of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional geothermal and water source heat pumps. WaterFurnace was founded in 1983 by Canadian entrepreneur Jim Shields. In 1990, WaterFurnace launched the first-variable speed, two-stage compressor unit - the most efficient, geothermal heat pump on the market at the time. In 2006, WaterFurnace debuted its Envision heat pump, a second-generation unit using non-ozone-depleting refrigerant. The product was named one of the "Top 10 Green Building Products" by Sustainable Industries Journal.
The Environmental Protection Agency has declared geothermal the most environmentally-friendly, cost-effective and energy-efficient heating and cooling technology available. WaterFurnace provides three types of comfort systems. All-in-one systems provide heat in the winter and cooling during the summer. Split systems can be used to provide comfort for the entire home or individual zones. Hydronic systems heat and cool water in applications like radiant floor heating, domestic hot water and snow/ice melt.
